Sandy Williams

Sandy Williams is passionately engaged in suicide prevention and awareness activities in Ohio. Ms. Williams lost her father to suicide in 2011. Since that time, she has been avidly committed to removing the stigma that surrounds mental health issues to allow honest conversations about suicide and suicidal ideation; educating the community on suicide and suicide prevention; and assisting other suicide survivors to cope with the unique pain and grief that accompanies a suicide loss.

Ms. Williams is a licensed attorney in the state of Ohio. During her career, she has served in senior legal positions at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio; United Telephone Company of Ohio; Sprint; and American Electric Power. At the time of her retirement, Ms. Williams was serving as the Vice President of Ethics at AEP.

Ms. Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University and a Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School. Ms. Williams is a member of the Bar in the State of Ohio; the Federal Bar for the Southern District of Ohio; and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Ms. Williams is the immediate past- Chair of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation and continues to serve on the OSPF Board. Ms. Williams also serves as Chair of the Family Advocates for Suicide Prevention (“FASP”), a grassroots movement to educate and advance suicide prevention. Finally, and most importantly, Ms. Williams is the President of Jerry’s Walk – Illuminating Suicide Awareness, a charitable organization established by her family in honor of her father Jerry Williams, who was lost to suicide in 2011. Jerry’s Walk is engaged in suicide prevention and awareness activities, including an annual walk, in the Ohio Valley.
